Training Support

The training that is provided by Addis Ababa University Library professional for digital librarian and reference librarian in collaboration with SIDA grant office is aim to developing the library staff profile who properly assist the need of E-resource of user ; to create Competitive staff for the delivery of strong and modern library services; to fulfill the information needs of the library users and  to overcome the shortage of reading reference materials for researchers.

Information Technology facilities

The SIDA grants different information technology facilities for the AAU library to fulfill technology and information needs of theusers and to increase user satisfaction. And also, to create ICT based technology in the library. The different IT facilities grants by SIDA are; LCD computers, Lenovo Laptop, digital scanner and printer at all machine.

  1. LCD computers for computer lab

LCD computers purchased for digital library computer laboratories with the SIDA grant aimto automate different library service for theusers and to create information access resource for the users. Therefor, the students, different researchers, academic staff, administrative staff and different authorized library users can have full access of electronics resource database of the AAU library.  These are the picture of the computer lab

Support to Purchase Plagiarism software and E-electronic journals

AAU libraries are working on the purchasing of different plagiarism software by the grants of SIDA to improve the qualities theses and avoid redundant theses. And also its working on subscription of E-journal and E- books in order to provides well reference theses for the different university researchers in particularly the country in general.

Support for experience sharing visit

AAU Libraries management visited University of Gothenburg

Addis Ababa University Libraries management delegation consisting of Dr. Melkamu Beyene (Library Director) and Dr. Solomon Mekonnen (Deputy Director) visited University of Gothenburg Library based on Sweden during the period of 24 to 27 June, 2019. During their stay, they visited all library facilities in the University to learn best practices. They have also conducted discussion with the Library staff and the management on very important issues in the Library domain including open science initiatives, research data management practices, Subscription & licensing issues, Information literacy programs and research Endeavour’s in Library issues. The team also visited national open data services to learn best practices in research data management. At the end of the visit, agenda for future collaboration has been set in areas of capacity building for AAU librarians, data repository implementation, and Exchange visit between the two Libraries. It is also agreed that the discussion for collaboration should continue after the visit and sign Memorandum of Understanding for formal cooperation agreement.
