Summary
Addis Ababa University is the only higher education institute in Ethiopia that caters for students that need specialized support to bring out their talents to support themselves and contribute their share to the development of their country, instead of becoming a burden to it. Tradition has it that these were out casted members of society because of the various kinds of disabilities they have, be it due to natural or man-made causes.
The diversity of the disabilities are so enormous that that the directorate has to make specialattention to each student with specific disabilityand that follow up has to happen every day of the year. It so happens that there are students that are faced with double disadvantages. For instance, if the disabled student is a female, then her problems multiply.
The scenario in this directorate is such that it needs experts of various talents specialized in the various forms of disabilities. All of them need updated capacity to become useful to their students, all of them need support of the university leadership and the community that understand the scenario in the directorate, all of Ethiopia needs that these people support themselves as they support the development of Ethiopia, instead of becoming the burdens of society as they were.

- BY Establishing collaboration with Addis Ababa Education Bureauworkshop organized and awareness raising training on inclusion of persons with disabilities in education provided.
- 3 guidelines developed 1 guideline Validation workshop conducted and guidelines published.
