New Guest Professor Appointed
Dr. Per Sevastik, AAU/SPCO’s contact person at the Embassy of Sweden in Addis Ababa regarding Sida supported projects, holds a LL.M. from Stockholm University, a LL.M. in International Legal Studies from Harvard Law School, and a Ph.D., in Public International Law from Uppsala University. He has worked for the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) for more than twenty-five years with human rights and rule of law related issues in African and Asian countries. He is currently posted in Addis Ababa, as Councilor at the Swedish Embassy.
He has been posted at the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand (2015–2016) and as Head of Development Cooperation at the Swedish Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan (2016–2017). In August 2017, he was a Visiting Scholar at SOAS School of Law and Social Sciences, University of London.
In addition, he was appointed guest professor at Peking University Law School, PRC, teaching International Human Rights law (2006–2007 and in 2009–2012), and has lectured at some twenty other universities in China and in Asia. His research interest is in international human rights law and rule of law. His most recent publication is “Rule of Law, Human Rights and Impunity: The Case of Afghanistan” HJRL May 2019
He is appointed Guest Professor at Addis Abeba University, College of Law and Governance Studies for the 2019/2020 academic year.
