Sida support to female academic staff of AAU conducting research: Stepping up the effort towards gender balance in research

Research Directorate Office organized a one-day Sida-supported Women Research project closing workshop at Ethiopia Hotel on 16 March 2022. Dr. Tadesse Fetahi, AAU Research Director, opened the workshop by congratulating the researchers, recognizing Sida’s technical and financial support and AAU Research Directorate staff members for their technical support.

Dr. Per Sevastik, Counsellor at the Embassy of Sweden, Addis Ababa, mentioned in his remark that AAU and Sida worked in collaboration for the last 42 years. He also said that women’s empowerment has been on Sida’s agenda for more than 50 years, so this project report is significant.

12 AAU women researchers presented their research reports and collect feedback from participants. This workshop creates opportunities for researchers to know each other and work together in the future.

Ms. Mastewal Moges, Sida Projects’ Assistant coordinator at the AAU-Sida Projects’ office of AAU, in her closing remark stated that she is glad to be part of this project. She also said that Sida has shown its commitment to gender balance efforts and is supporting women in different ways; the women’s research grant is one of the productive projects supported by Sida.
